How to Clean Phone Cases Shiny and New

Studies have found that our cell phones are the dirtiest object we come in contact with during our day-to-day lives. Try not to think about how gross that is the next time you hold your phone to your face to talk to someone!

Cleaning your phone case regularly is just as important as washing your hands. How you clean your smartphone cases depends on the case material. Different materials require different methods.

If you’re not entirely sure how to clean phone cases, keep reading for some helpful case cleaning tips.

Plastic or Silicon

Easily clean any plastic or silicon case with a mixture of dish soap and warm water. You can soak the case to loosen any dirt buildup before thoroughly wiping it clean and rinsing it off.

Be sure to fully dry your cell phone case before you place it back on your phone to avoid any water damage!

However, if you’re seeing yellow phone case stains on your plastic case, it may be time to purchase a new one. These cool phone cases will blow your old one out of the water!

How to Clean Phone Cases

Leather

Cleaning your leather case is a bit more involved than silicon or plastic. As leather is sensitive material, it must be cleaned gently.

Most leather cases only require a spot cleaning. To clean any buildup, dip a cloth or soft towel into a mixture of warm water and dish soap, and gently clean the case. Being rough while cleaning can damage the leather.

You can also use a leather cleaner if you have some available. Use a small drop on a damp cloth and gently work over the case.

Wood

Other sources may encourage you to spray a water mixture directly onto your wooden phone case. However, water can severely damage the wood and ultimately ruin your case!

Instead, regularly wiping down your case with a microfiber cloth can help prevent the buildup of dirt and dust.

For tough stains, spot cleaning with vinegar is recommended. Never apply the vinegar directly to the case though – instead apply it to a towel first, then clean.

Deep Clean

Often we only focus on cleaning the part of the phone case that comes into contact with our hands. However, if you take the case off you may find dust, dirt, and grime nestled inside.

Taking a toothbrush and gently scrubbing the interior of your case can help release the dirt from those hard-to-reach places. It’s just as important to keep the inside of your case clean!

The Importance of Clean Phone Cases

Whether your phone case is starting to look a little dingy or you want to keep it clean and bacteria-free, be sure you regularly clean phone cases.

Cleaning based on the material your case is made out of is very important. Some cleaners are too harsh and can dull, warp, or scratch your case.
